Meet the Team

Article text
We have a regular team of six, who are joined by others at some of the shows.

You might not spot Pamatka at first. Unless there are treats on offer she is likely to be curled up on the comfiest chair, pretending to be fast asleep. As she's nearly 10 years old she thinks she deserves to be treated with respect by the rest of the family. However, show her food - or her tracking harness - and she acts like a youngster again.

Tomas is definitely boss dog. He takes his responsibilities very seriously, and when the pack are out hunting he wears an orange collar with a bell so that he can be seen and heard - wherever Tomas is, the others will be close by because he will go and round them up if they stray too far away. He will be 7 in June, and is Pamatka's son

Anika is the pretty one who likes to spend most of the day sitting on the table and being made a fuss of by all the visitors. When she was young she was known as the Asbo Kid, then (as she isn't very bright) as the Blonde Bimbo, but she has matured to become an excellent mother who has had lovely children - even if she is still a bit scatty at times! She is 5 years old, and is Tomas' daughter.

At first glance Anja and Anika look very similar, and they are known as the 'A' team as they are often seen together, but whereas Anika is pretty, but a bit dim, Anja is a real tomboy who prefers being scruffy and dirty - and has brains for the two of them. She is in training to become a qualified blood tracking dog. She is 4 years old and only distantly related to the others.

Xaver is the cuddly one - it's amazing how many visitors come up to our stand and immediately want to give Xaver a cuddle! He is so laid back that he often goes to sleep on the table, usually flat on his back, although he is still quite happy to receive lots of cuddles and strokes. He will soon be 3 years old and is Anika's son.

This is the view you are likely to see of Xanthe - she loves nothing better than to have a tummy rub, especially from small children. Unlike her brother Xaver, Xanthe is on the go all the time. She is another one with brains, and in the Autumn she will start tracking training.

Bess is a very special Cesky Terrier as she is a Truffle Hunting dog. Along with her friends Bunty and Blanche she will probably be at the shows at Thame, Netley Marsh and Bowood.

It can be confusing on the odd occasions that we have two Blanches on the stand, but this Blanche - along with Todd, Martha, Peppa and maybe a puppy or two - will be with us for the three day Cheshire show.

Daisy is another of Anika's children, half sister to Xaver and Xanthe. We hope to see her at Burghley and Sandringham.

As you can tell, Ivan enjoys agility! He and his friends - Grace, Flint, Saffy and Rose will be joining the team at Thoresby - all the way from their home on Jersey in the Channel Islands! He's a much travelled boy, as he was born in Poland.

Celeste also comes from Poland. She was a real hit with the crowds at Sandringham last year as a puppy. Now, she's quite a grown up young lady, but still ready to charm the public. We hope to see her again at Sandringham.

Grissom and his best buddy Lupin will be at several of this year's shows. They too enjoy agility, although as Grissom is now 11 years old, he has slowed down just a bit.

The Living Heritage Game and Country Fairs are a great day out for the whole family!
